Pencil Tip announces our latest charity short-story collection, Blakes 7: Defiance
Pencil Tip Publishing is pleased to announce our latest charity short-story collection, Blakes 7: Defiance.
Blakes 7 first aired in 1978 and quickly established itself as a bold and subversive entry in the genre. Created by Doctor Who writer Terry Nation, the series follows freedom fighter Roj Blake and a ragtag band of rebels aboard the stolen alien spaceship Liberator, as they wage a desperate guerrilla war against the totalitarian Terran Federation. With its morally complex characters, dystopian themes, and an unflinching look at power and resistance, Blakes 7 set itself apart from the more sanitized sci-fi of its era.
Despite its modest budget, the series won praise for its compelling storytelling, sharp dialogue, and the unforgettable dynamic between its characters—particularly the icy pragmatist Avon. Its bleak, often shocking narrative arcs have helped the show maintain a loyal fanbase decades after its original broadcast. Today, Blakes 7 enjoys an enduring legacy through audio dramas, fan fiction, and conventions, celebrated for its daring narrative choices and its influence on the darker side of modern sci-fi television.
All net proceeds from this publication will be donated in support of the Alzheimers Society of British Columbia who’s vision is a world without Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and that world begins with a society where people affected by dementia are welcomed, supported and included.
